Gideon Askham of Eastwoodgrange - Bailiff of Castle Bolton
A clerk, and not a military man, by training, Gideon was studying for a career in the Church until a change of fortune brought him to Lord Bolton’s service. While still sympathetic to calls for Reformation of the Church, the Bailiff now oversees the wapenshaw on instructions from Lord Bolton's Steward and is too busy with affairs of the fief for idle ecclesiastic politics.
Charles Jackson the Journeyman Miller – Billman
Goodman Charles was preparing to assume the position of miller in Wensley when he was called to muster. Charles first carried his bill into Scotland behind the banner of Henry VII nigh unto twenty years ago, making him something of a veteran in the retinue.
Dirk Atwood of Bolton – Bowman
Lancashire forester from Cotterdale – 20 miles west of Lord Bolton’s holdings. A keen woodsman, he serves as a keeper of Lord Bolton’s forests. Cudgels anyone he catches who isn’t a Lollard, unless they’re Irish, in which case he cudgels them twice. Was once told by a Yorkshire man that the best thing about Lancashire was the road to Yorkshire so he went to see for himself – now he’s looking for that Yorkist to give him a right sorting out, so he is.
Kent Davy the Younger – Bowman(?)
Soft-featured, rounded in odd places, and sporting a pencil-thin goatee that looks suspiciously like pencil on bright days, there are some in the retinue who think Young Kent is a trifle light in the hose. Come to that, few if any can recall ever seeing Young Kent’s hose. Come ye out the wardrobe, Kent.
